It’s our personal experiences that often shape and change the direction of our lives. Losing his father to sudden cardiac arrest played a major role in Dr. Aseem Desai’s decision to become an EP, he says, as was the immediate benefit he knew he could provide to patients. “I had a patient near death in a hospital bed due to a sustained VT. The critical isthmus was located in an area of the left ventricle difficult to access with a manual catheter. It only took a single burn to terminate the VT and a day after his Stereotaxis procedure he was standing at the sink brushing his teeth,” says Dr. Desai. “With robotic cardiac ablation, I have a safer approach to patient care, with greater accuracy than the human hand.”
